Organizational Update
The Romanian Genealogy Society has made the difficult decision to dissolve as an organization due to limited volunteer capacity. Plans are underway to donate the RGS Romanian library collection to the Minnesota Genealogical Society, where the materials will remain accessible to researchers through the Hoffman Research Library. The RGS website and email are anticipated to remain active through April 26, 2026, after which we will be unable to answer inquiries. Welcome to the Romanian Genealogy Society (RGS).

We believe our organization’s mission is unique.  As family historians, we are learning together how to use records to trace our Romanian ancestry and to discover details about our ancestors’ lives, whether they lived in Romania or other parts of Europe, in the United States, or in Canada.

Our goal is to help you navigate the obstacles of searching for your Romanian Roots.  The more we learn from the experiences of others and their challenges on how to use records to trace our Romanian ancestry, the more we can share with you.

We continue to grow our network of individuals who help us learn how to research and locate archival documents and better understand the history of the places our ancestors came from.
