The Hoffman Research Library is now open. Be sure to check MNGS.ORG for hours and additional details.
The library is one of the top research facilities in the Midwest. Library admission is free to RGS, and MGS and their branch and affiliate members; non-members, $10 day-use fee. Check MGS website for days and library hours. Parking is free and the building is handicap accessible.
Using the MGS Library:
It is not a lending library. Check the catalog and hours at www.mngs/org. Items belonging to the RGS collection contain the catalog prefix “ROM”. RGS’ library collection is now searchable online through MGS Library Catalog. The books in the library are for use only in the library and are not available for checkout.
To quickly search for RGS items in the catalog, click on the magnifying glass below. Once to MGS Library, select the Visual Search, or the Romanian flag. Then again, select the Romanian flag then the magnifying glass with RGS once more. (Clicking the Romanian flag instead of the magnifying glass will bring you back to our website.)
If you don’t live nearby, perhaps you will plan a research trip. Contact us if you’d like to visit on a day when the Library is not open and we’ll arrange to have a volunteer assist you.
Our Library Committee developed a pathfinder document called “Romanian Research Basics”, which suggests records to seek and where to find records in the USA and Canada, as well as, selected titles from RGS’ Library collection. To receive a copy of the pathfinder document, please email us at info@romaniangenealogy.com.
